About Publishing

Natural History Museum Publishing aims to make widely available the great wealth of information held at the Museum. We publish books and journals that reflect the Museum's collections, scientific work and exhibitions, with titles that vary from high-level academic books and journals, to popular science and natural history art.

Our publishing programme aims to: 

• communicate the results of work on the Museum's collections and associated research
• complement the exhibition programme with publications giving expanded treatment of themes and topics on display
• provide educational publications for all those interested in learning more about the natural world

NHM Publishing produces popular and Museum-related titles under the Museum's own imprint. Academic and specialist titles are published in association with external publishers. The Museum works with a wide variety of publishing partners, reflecting the diversity of the Museum's activities.

All books and journals published by or in association with the Natural History Museum are held under copyright. We endeavour to protect copyright on behalf of our authors, the Museum and our co-publishers, and we ask you to respect copyright when using our material.
