From the acclaimed to the curious, every scientist at the Museum has at least one favourite among the collection of 70 million specimens we care for. Desert Island Specimens is a regular platform where visitors can quiz scientists about the three specimens that inspire their fascination and contemplation - anything from meteorites to giant whale skeletons.

In this video, mammal curator Richard Sabin has the difficult task of chosing his three favourite specimens from the 500,000 strong mammal collection.
